LO-CAL
One of the biggest challenges I've ever undertaken (other than raising kids, which I LOVE but it comes with it's own set of joys and challenges for sure) was starting and running my handbag business, ISLY Handbags. Little did I know what I was signing up for when I conceived the idea in 2009 and eventually launched the company in 2011. As my business took off I was hit with the realization that it was, without a shadow of a doubt, simultaneously THE most rewarding and THE most difficult thing I'd experienced in my life.
Of course, I learnt a LOT from it but as a result of my understanding about how a business is run and how MANY (at least a million a day) aspects one has to pay attention to at any given time I developed a HUGE appreciation for small business owners. And to top that, I particularly enjoy supporting local (LO-CAL - as in California which I know you got but just clarifying:) businesses run by women entrepreneurs.
Enter Vanessa Lynne Designs. The brainchild of Vanessalynne Hattar, this San Francisco based design house has a simple but effective philosophy- "less is more". And no one executes it better than Ms. Hattar! All of her designs are made by hand in San Francisco following the highest environmental standards. Each piece is feminine, fun, flirty yet perfect for the contemporary woman who knows how to hold her own. And my absolute favorite bit is that each item of clothing is timeless and exceptionally well-priced. I will be sporting my chic, white Lorella ruffle dress this summer but in the meanwhile here are some fun pics that Ricci took in The Presidio last month. Happy summer:)
